Here come the Hoops!

For those of you who didn't thing the Gallus Gallus were enough Gamma World flavour in my post-apocalyptic games I've now added the Hoops!

The Hoops are basically mutant bunny-men that have appeared in every edition of Gamma World.  In more recent editions they have been presented as more feral and malicious than in their original background.

First up is Echo with his pistol

Then we have E.B. with his shotgun

And lastly Bugs with his rifle

Two of the Hoops should show up in my next game of This Is Not A Test and then I hope to get onto some Porkers (pig-men).

I'm running out of weird animal hybrid models to paint so unless any of you have any suggestions I'll probably move onto retro-sci-fi robots next.

...the horde grows....

Last night/early this morning I got my next 7 Zombicide: Black Plague zombies done.

Not really much to say this time out, followed the same plan as last time and got all 7 of them done in about 90 minutes.

I have a few lingering projects done I need for some games in 10 days so I'm going to take a break from the horde for a few days and circle back to  some games and figures from a  few months ago.

Yet another zombie horde begins assembling

A couple of months (wow, has it been that long?  I'm really falling behind on my painting!) ago I picked up Zombicide: Black Plague.  To be honest I picked it up with no intention of ever playing the game, it just seemed like a really good source of fantasy zombie models as well as some cool adventurers.

I've decided to paint the zombies in batches of 7.  That might seem like an odd number but the way the game comes packaged there are 7 or each pose in the game so it just kind of makes sense.  For my first batch I did one of the fairly straight-forward male zombie variants.

I'm pretty happy with how these turned out and I have to say for boardgame models the quality and the quality of the material seems really high.

At this point I'm planning on using these for my Ravenloft game (which starts tonight!) as well as loaning them out for a Frostgrave campaign day I may or may not be able to participate in.

In a perfect world I'll get a few more of these done this week.....so let's just see if the world is perfect.....

Free mustache rides!

The third of Lucas McCabe's upstanding gentleman adventurers is now done!

The McCabe box came with three 'Wastrels' who are basically men of privilege who have wasted their gifts and now survive on the fringes of society while indulging in the occasional spot of ultra-violence.

In addition to the three Wastrels that came in the starter box I was able to use my 2015 Iron Painter winnings to get the Miss Anne Thrope miniature, so hopefully she will be showing up here tomorrow as well.

I'm back again!

Hi all.

Wow, its been almost a full month since I posted last.  No tales of busyness or mayhem I just lost my painting mojo for a bit.  I hit one of those walls that's very similar to a new hobbyist trying to get started (I don't have time, I'm not going to finish, there's too much to do, etc) so I'm going to be easing my way back into the swing of things with a few easy wins.  Translation things I started but never quite finished and/or models that are fairly monochromatic.

First up is a Wastrel for Malifaux and/or Through The Breach.  I started running a Through The Breach adventure last year that featured all three Wastrel models fairly heavily but never got to any of the combat encounters they were needed for so they ended up on the perpetual back burner.  One got finished and the other two have been sitting half done for months.

This is the second of my three Wastrels but I have since acquired a fourth.

I'm not sure if this fig will see the table for Malifaux or Through The Breach first but either way he feels like a useful addition to the collection.

At what point can I declare that I've built a shanty-town?

Got another cool Plast Craft kit done last night, this time out; The Caravan!

This is actually a really big set and looks pretty impressive once it's all done.  The main 'building' is a trailer with a small outbuilding shabbily bolted onto the back of it.

The set also includes this very cool looking set of gas pumps.

When I've built these kits in the past I've tried to share some insight into whether they were easy or difficult to build but this time I'm a bit in the dark about that.  I really struggled with this one but to be fair once I had completed the whole thing I found a midpoint structural support laying on my desk that I had completely missed putting in in the early stages of construction.  So was it difficult; yes.  Was it my own fault it was difficult; also yes.

Imperial Trenchers - WIP

I feel like I should start off by saying everything old is new again.

When Target Games first brought out WarZone a skirmish war-game set in the Mutant Chronicles universe in the 90's I was a huge fan.  A lot of people just saw it as a 40K knock off but I really liked the cyberpunk inspired take on the whole 'grimdark' concept.

Over the last few years I have shown some of my first and second generation WarZone figs and I have dabbled in jumping back into actually playing.  A few weeks ago my friend Ash and I actually made it as far as debating whether we were going to play the first or second edition of the rules.  Then the plan changed a little bit.

Prodos Games (who are producing the current/new version of WarZone) sent Ash two of the starter boxes to show off on his YouTube channel Guerrilla Miniature Games.  So instead of jumping in the way back machine we're painting up two new forces to play with.

I'll be doing the forces of the Imperial Mega-Corporation.  The Imperial background and imagery is all inspired by the United Kingdom with the Trenchers being a clear throw back to to the BEF of World War 1.

The starter box comes with the two squads I've started as well as two officers and a small vehicle reminiscent of the commonwealth armies Universal Carrier of World War 2 (those should be making an appearance here next week).

I'm really impressed with the quality of the figures.  To be honest when I first heard they were resin I was a little hesitant as I have had some bad experiences with resin in the past.  What's great about the Prodos figures (the ones I've got so far at least) is that most of the pieces are thick enough that bending or warping aren't an issue.  The detail is crisp, the models are light-weight and I didn't spend any more time prepping them than I would have a plastic or metal squad.

Looking forward to finishing these up this weekend and hopefully getting some games in soon!
